One night in Rajdhani with ONACC

My second book reading... 07th August 12:32 AM

After almost 4 years, second time in my life I completed reading a book. and that too in straight 7 hours. The first one was 'The Alchiemist' and this one was 'One night at call center'. It happened only twice that the book was out of my hands when I went to loo. I am on my way to delhi for a long holiday. For me 'long' means 10-15 days, although I have applied for 3 weeks vacation. I just finished readin the book and it was amazing. Although the man is back to his machine, but he did not miss his machine in last 7 hours. Reading the book was an amzing experience. If I am not wrong everyone who has read this book must have felt a shyam inside them and I am no different. At times, the sweet love story touched. Well the best part of the book starts at the end. Believe it or not, the story of the book was just little different than what I am experiencing these days.So I was excited about the end of the story. I was expecting to get answers to my questions and doubts. And the end did not disappoint me. It was thrilling. The AC of Rajdhani Ex. is already chilly. The conversation beween god and the CC guys gave answers to all of my questions. I felt as if I am at Shyam's position. I feel alone, almost good-for-nothing and I know that if I don't do anything quick, I will loose self-confidence.
It did not feel that I am reading a book. The scenes runs like a movie in front of your eyes. Must be because of the simple and interactive language that I could understand easily without guessing what the word could mean.

Well I will give 5 stars to the book and I hope that I will follow what I have learned from the book.
I learned a lot, just to mention a few easily expressible ones.

Four things required to succeed:
--------------------------------
Medium amount of intelligence
bit of imagination
Self-confidence
Never be afraid of failure

About saving your life
----------------------
A bad boss is like a disease of the soul.If you have one for long enough, you are convincted something is wrong with you. Even if you know your boss is the real looser, you start doubting yourself. And that is when your confidence goes.

The 2X2 matrix.
----------------
Horizontal: Smart and Stupid
Vertical: Good and Evil

Business Cafe

I had gone to pune on a sunday to meet couple of friends to talk about some tech stuff and do some brainstroming on future plans. When it came to deciding the meeting place, it was quite difficult to find one. We required a space where there is not much noise, nice ambience, preferably a cafe sort of place with internet facility. Strangely we could not locate any such place in pune. Finally we found one cafe, next to Pizza hut in pune (on 3rd floor, forgot the name of cafe). The cafe is quite spacious and nice ambience. the best part is no one comes there. So the cafe is all yours. Though I dont smoke, but my friends wanted to smoke during the meeting. Smoking was not allowed there.

On the way back to mumbai I was thinking that like our group there must be many more people who would be meeting regularly and would like to have a place where they can talk business with full privacy.
I think, Pune is going to be the next bangalore for the world. Pune has got all the right things to build next Silicon Valley.
Top of Indian University, Good colleges, Best of software companies, good weather and most importantly people with right aptitude and attitude. I think Pune is the best place to start a new company.
Government has realized the potential of Pune and its people and have started infrastructure development for the next generation of software companies.

Thats how I started thinking about a new cafe. Its a business cafe. People come here to meet other like minded people and discuss business, their future plans and technical stuff.

I would like it to have two sections. One is an open air cafe with Wi-Fi connectivity. People will have option to bring their laptops and connect to Internet. Otherwise they can use the machines setup on each table.
The second section will have business facilities like audio and video conference calling. Even though all facilities are ment to be for business people, the enviroment is quite fresh and exciting. I see the conference room as a small room with translucent walls like a big phone booth. I dont want it to look like office conference room. The two sections are not totally segregated. The idea is not to replicate office enviroment. But mix office like facilities with a CCD like cafe.

I would like to have facility to book table or conference room via email/website or mobile. Definitely the cafe need to be till late in night.

why do people work so hard?

I know few people who face this question quite often ... "For what are you working so hard?...go get some life man..."
Today I was talking to John when I found something that I have never thought about.
Is it for money? I am sure, no. They are getting enough of it. They are not paid more than others because they work 14 hours a day. They get recognition and money because they fulfill the expectations and then they go beyong expectations. So do they work hard for recognition and fame? Some of them do. And it is good to work for that. Then what about rest of them?

The ones who are not working for money, fame or recognition , they are working to achieve their dreams. But if they dont dream to become rich and famous, What do they dream about? Surely a beautiful and smart life/parttime partner, but their hardwork within company premises wont help them get one . Then what do they dream about? Why do they work so hard?
How you would like to see your office to be? A nice car picks you up from home, it drops you at the gate of a nice office. You enter and see a lovely environment. You meet your colleagues have some fun and by 10 you are on your seat. You open your laptop and it tells you what you have to do today and how you can achieve required results. You find every required thing ready for you and you are amazed that everything is working so flawlessly. You have fun in your office with no work pressure. you know that your work will be done withine time and everything is working fine. You are assured about company growth and know that your future is secured. What company expects from you is sincere 8 hours of work.
Did I mention anything that you would not like to have....? I think most of you would say "no". But who will do all this for you?

lucky ...

I have never regretted what I did in past or what I didn't. I think I have been lucky that I got into good college, then got great friends, got into a company I thought I will never join but finally I learned a lot in the company. Then when I left the company and join this one, I remember I did not give much time to research about the company. The only thing on my mind was to leave the company and join a new one. Had I been not so lucky, job-shift could have been a big mistake for me. but the new company had lots of good things for me.
I am not sure if I shall be lucky in future or not.

I sometimes think that every person in his life has to see downtime at some point in life. Just like I thought that every person meets an accident at least once and get admitted to hospital. for some people it could be just just fracture in leg..for some it could be a serious head injury.
I am happy that I am done with my share .... :) ..met with an accident in 1999 during first semester leaves...not many people from my batch know about this...it was just a shoulder dislocation.

I have not seen any downtime since I started my career. So i need to be prepared for the downtime of my life. I am just little worried that when will be that time. I wish that I dont have many dependent people around me at that time so that they dont get affected during that phase.

Writing a software

Being an unfocused, unorganized and impatient person, I feel like as if I am still working on college assignments. Dont know what to start with and which one to finish first. I dont think software is developed the way I am developing. My work does not seem to have an end. Hopeless. Just putting in whole time and whole life into it and hoping that some day the work will finish.
Lets see what are my limits. but someday I will have to quit. I am trying and will keep trying to improve the things. But if they dont get better in near future.......I will try for some more time...but then quit.....to save my attitude, aptitude and life...
I know some people might say that I am running away from problems and I will find these problems everywhere. But guess if we wish, we can be at a place, in an environment which is created by us for ourselves.

Lets see.
Good luck to me and you all for life.

WTF?

Project definition for a BE project !

Integration of Business Process Models with Neural Agents

Description: The purpose of the research is to prove that there is a business case (i.e. an economical need) for integration of Business Process Management (BPM), Web Services (WSs) and intelligent agents (IA).
In order to make the integration intelligent develope a neural model of the BPM using Artificial Neural Networks ,to test the system feasibility develop a Mathematical model of E BPM and training sets and result sets for ANN (Artificial Neural Networks) derive using fuzzy logic The simulation results prove that an efficient constrain equations(for ANN inputs) which define the system and the rule extraction(for fuzzy logic ) will help in integrating the intelligence to the BPM .

Solutions'06

Spent this weekend attending college techfest "Solutions'06".
NeoAccel sponsored the event.
First day we were a team of 6 (company sponsored trip). Reached college at 11.45. Kasi, Navin and sapna were quite excited to come to pune. Met Hariya sir there and few more juniors. In team of 2s we started looking at the projects. It was fun being at the non-receiving end. Looked at 4-5 projects. None of them was technically challenging and we were able to understand the concepts easily.
At the end we were directed to Ashish's project. He is a genious. Akshat wanted to hire him.
I think we cannot hire him. Our company is not yet ready for genious people.
Second day was just a formality. Me along with VP and Anil Dahiya reached AIT at 4 and left at 5:30 . The award ceremony was short and sweet. We awarded best project to Ashish.
I wish I can work with him sometime. good luck to him and other people like him.

Are you educated enough?

Do you think you are an educated person?
Ever thought of when you call a person educated? after BE? MBA? MS?

After attending 3 LRS meetings, I think I am not educated enough.

what is LRS?

LRS stands for Lok Raj Sangathan.
Don't have time to explain much about it but if you felt like stand up and shout, scream, cry, kill while watching movie "Rang De Basanti", go spend some time on www.lokrajsangathan.org.

The web-site will give you an idea what is LRS but if you want to know why is LRS, contact me.

ps: LRS is not a political party, but is a open group of politically influenced professionals with scientific approach towards society problems.
